Ingredients

Dough

  • ½ cup Milk
  • 2 tbsps Salted Butter
  • ¾ tsp Salt
  • cup Warm Water
  • ¼ cup Granulated Sugar
  • ½ tbsp Active Dry Yeast
  • 1 Large Egg (Beaten)
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 2 ½ -2¾ cups All-Purpose Flour

Cream Cheese Filling

Frosting

  • 1 cup Powdered Sugar
  • 4 oz Cream Cheese
  • 1 ½ tbsps Milk
  • ½ tbsp Salted Butter, Melted
  • ½ tsp Vanilla Extract
  • ½ tbsp Kiss Ya Mama Cinnamon Sugar

Instructions

  • Heat milk and butter, add salt, set aside to cool until just warm (about 120° to 130°F)
  • In a separate bowl, combine warm water, 1 tablespoon sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
  • Add milk mixture, remaining sugar, eggs, vanilla, and 1 cup flour. Mix, then continue adding flour while kneading with the dough hook attachment, 1 cup at a time. Add the additional 1/4 cup of flour if the dough is sticky. Knead for 5 minutes (medium speed) or 8-10 minutes by hand.
  • Turn out the dough, knead into a smooth ball, return to a lightly oiled bowl. Cover and let rise for 1-2 hours until doubled.
  • For filling, combine ingredients for the cream cheese filling, and beat until smooth
  • Roll out half of the dough into a 10x16-inch rectangle. Cut lengthwise, use a pizza cutter for an easy cut.
  • Spread cream cheese filling on each rectangle, roll into cylinders, twist into a rope braid, shape into an oval on a baking sheet, and pinch ends together.
  • Cover lightly with plastic wrap  and let rise for 30-45 minutes. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown. Cool completely before frosting
  • For frosting, beat ingredients until smooth. Drizzle over cakes, sprinkle with colored sugar. Insert a plastic baby figurine into each cake
  • Slice and enjoy, and may the one who finds the baby be king or queen for the day!
