1.) Green Tomatoes
The following recipe is best fit for the following quantity of each vegetable.
- 4 green tomatoes
- 1 eggplant
- 30 pods of okra
- 4 squash
- 2 onions
What you will need:
Season tomatoes, on both sides, with salt and pepper. Place fish fry in a shallow dish. In another shallow dish, beat eggs with the milk. Dredge tomatoes through the fish fry, then the eggs, and then through the bread crumbs. Add only a few pieces to the fryer at a time, so they can cook evenly, about 2 to 3 minutes.

Southern Fried Okra
By Joy at Pure Joy
It’s summer and okra is growing like weeds down in Louisiana. Okra is such a great vegetable. Of course, we Southerners have decided it is best battered and fried!
15 large okra
2 cups of flour
2 tbsp Slap Ya Mama Original Cajun Seasoning
5 eggs scrambled
1 tbsp Slap Ya Mama Original Cajun Seasoning for the egg mixture
Oil for frying
Heat oil to 350
Cut okra into desired size. Place 2 cups of flour and 2 tbsp of Slap Ya Mama in a bowl and stir dry ingredients until completly mixed. In a separate bowl scramble 5 eggs mixed with 1 tbsp Slap Ya Mama to it. Place the okra in the egg mixture to soak first and then transfer it into the flour mixture. Carefully place in hot oil and fry until golden. Serve and Enjoy!
Roasted Brussels Sprouts w/ a Balsamic Creole Honey Mustard
Beautifully roasted brussels sprouts with an incredible dressing makes these healthy veggies the perfect side dish to any meal.
Preheat oven at 425 degrees F.
In a large bowl, mix together brussels sprouts, onions, olive oil and Slap Ya Mama Low Sodium Blend Seasoning. Spread evenly into an oven-safe skillet or baking sheet.
Roast for 25 to 30 minutes, stirring only once. The brussels sprouts should be tender and slightly browned. Remove from heat.
In a small bowl, mix together balsamic vinegar, honey and creole mustard. Drizzle over roasted brussels sprouts and gently mix. Serve and enjoy!
In a large pot, fill half way with water, add Slap Ya Mama Seafood Boil, add halved lemon, place on high heat and bring to a rolling boil. Once boiling, add shrimp and cover. Bring to a rolling boil again, uncover and boil for 3 to 4 minutes. (If your burner brings to a boil slower than others then boil shrimp for a shorter period. If it’s quick to bring to a boil, boil shrimp for a longer period.) Remove shrimp from pot; place into a large bowl or on a serving tray, squeeze juice of sectioned lemon over shrimp and sprinkle evenly with Slap Ya Mama Seafood Boil. Serve with your favorite cocktail sauce or butter sauce and enjoy.
Note: You may also boil vegetables, such as corn, potatoes, sweet onions, whole garlic and mushrooms. We often boil veggies first, then place in a large bowl and cover with foil. Then boil shrimp in the same water, adding a few more tablespoons of Slap Ya Mama Seafood Boil to the water before adding shrimp.
Note: We use approximately 3 Tbsp (1.5 ounces) of Slap Ya Mama Seafood Boil for every pound of shrimp, crawfish, crab or vegetable.
